MIAMI MATH MADNESS

Miami Math Madness is a community awareness activity designed to celebrate Mathematics and highlight the fact that mathematic permeate our society. In this event, teachers take deserving elementary and secondary students to a local event (basketball, baseball, football, etc.) to compete in a mathematics contest prior to the start of the event. Through a scavenger hunt, students use mathematics to solve problems to find clues that lead to a larger final solution. The event also revolves around statistics related to the event. The expectation is that students and teachers walk away with a new appreciation for how mathematics affects their daily life. They also receive goodies and free entrance to the event that day.
